ARTIST BIO

Katie Holton was born in a small town called Alma, Georgia, and her art is influenced by the town she grew up in. Her artwork is connected with nature, and traditional art forms. One of the first forms of art she learned from her grandmother was called “Nature Art,” and it consisted of taking leaves or other interesting finds and creating imagery out of them on paper in a collage style. It has heavily influenced her style because it connects her with family and the place she grew up in. Holton now creates compelling imagery by using oil paint, or other traditional mediums to depict her connection with life in a small country town. Holton is currently a senior at Valdosta State University where she is pursuing a major in fine arts with a minor in advertising and promotion. Her artwork has been featured in shows at Dedo Maranville Art Gallery in Valdosta, Ga. She plans to keep growing as an artist and apply to more galleries, and to keep working as a graphic designer.
